Dutch Almond Cookies (Janhagels)
*Oven: 300 degrees
Cream together:
1 Cup, Sugar
1 Cup, Butter
Add:
1 Egg yolk
1/2 Teaspoon, Vanilla
Sift:
2 Cup, Flour
Pinch of salt
1/2 Teaspoon, Cinnamon
Glaze Topping:
1 Egg white
2 Teaspoon, Water
1 Cup, Almonds, sliced
1. Cream butter, add sugar, vanilla and egg yolk.
2. Sift dry ingredients. Add gradually to the first mixture.
3. Place mixture on greased 15 x 10-inch baking sheet. Press even layer with fingers and or roll with roller to smooth dough.
4. Mix egg white and water. Brush onto cookie mixture.
5. Sprinkle with sliced almonds.
6. Bake at 300 degrees for 1/2 hour. * Or 350 degrees 20 min. for crispy cookies.
7. Cool 5 minutes. Cut in squares while slightly warm. Makes 5 to 6 dozen.
