The Monodontomerus wasp is a parasitic wasp that lays its eggs in the cells of mason bees. They are able to hear the larvae in the cells. I was able to observe these wasps attempting to lay eggs (through their ovipositor)in the split bamboo that was occupied by mason bee larvae. These photos were taken on June 30, 2006.
