12    PHOTOS OF YOUR ADVENTURES  (personal photo album)

Yes . . . . you can take photos of your travels through Second Life.  My web site is a large collection of pictures I have taken.  In the lower area of the SL window is the “Snapshot” button.  I selected the Snapshot destination for “Save to your hard drive”.  For a faster SL experience and smaller photo file size, I set my SL window size to 800x600.  I picked the photo Format = PNG.  (Remember Tip 8 for great land photos.)   Take LOTS of photos and keep the good ones.

First photo

On the first Snapshot, you will be asked where to store these image files on your computer.  The next Snapshot will automatically go into that chosen folder.  When offline, I label all photos with the land’s name first and follow with a comment.  Examples names:     Flotsam_Beach-visited_store ,    IEEE-standing_in_plaza,   IRIS-met_Jill

At the end of the name-comment, I optionally add the X,Y,Z location for future reference.

New Lands or New Friends

When I take photos of a new land, I checked the box “Show interface in snapshot” to get a copy of the Land’s name & X,Y,Z location in my photo.  I then uncheck this box for future photos.  This is a good way to save names of new SL Friends too.   Just remember to also take pictures with this box unchecked to eliminate the menus & titles from the SL browser’s window in your pictures.

Storage

I keep each Land photo in a Land named folder.   I precede each Land named folder with an increasing number related to the order I visited them.   So I now have  “1-Name” to  “236-Name” folders for 236  SL lands visited.
